pinecone weatherman

This is our pine cone, pine cone's are rather amazing objects. They are still alive even after falling to the ground. This is a rather large one that came from the Carolina's. When it's open like this that means that it's dry. This pine cone is just starting to dry out, see how the top is so tight and the bottom is opening up? The whole thing gets all closed up when its raining.


And this is what happens when you get a nor'easter and get 20 inches of snow!! We had a good storm right before Christmas that left us almost 2 feet of snow. That's when I snapped this shot. I guess that our pine cone isn't so much a weatherman as a great conversation topic.

beats me... I've had it for about 2 years, but my folks have one they have had for maybe 5 years.
